About
Bio
With an extensive background in working with the human body/mind/spirit and its web of energies as a long-time bodyworker and acupuncturist, Patrice has expressed, created, and healed with her hands her entire adult life.
Patrice has had a lifelong love of Nature in its physical and ethereal forms and enjoys a deep and visceral love of jazz and all music. These are the primary influences that inform the directions of her paintings.
While majoring in dance and humanities at Temple University, Patrice studied many diverse styles of dance and would often observe and sketch movement. This inspired her to study sculpture, drawing and painting at Settlement Music school, Main Line Art Center and Wayne Art Center. Patrice has explored rendering famous works of art, her own photography, and images and colors that are revealed between sleep and wakefulness.
Artist’s Statement
Because of my background in healing energetics and various spiritual practices, I am drawn to the mysteries of the human body and all of Nature. Through these experiences, I’ve found that I enjoy investigating concepts such as the feeling and energy of colors, and exploring reflected images where I look for layers that coexist. I love to expand photos until objects are unrecognizable, finding images within images.
I want my artwork to inspire wonder. I want viewers to have a sense of beauty and other realms, even if briefly. To experience the veil between what we cannot see yet sense is there.
